I am co-organising a conference in Sydney during October which may be of interest to you, your colleagues or some of your students. The event is entitled "Music and Movements in Indonesian Culture" and is a light mixture of morning research presentations and afternoon practical workshops from the 7th till 9th of October. The Consulate General of Indonesia have kindly offered the free use of their facilities for the duration of this conference.
While the main theme for the conference is the music and dance of Indonesia, the 'call for papers' is open to enthusiasts of music theory and dance theory as well as ethnomusicology, performance studies and dance anthropology.
Professor Margaret Kartomi will be delivering an address about Acehnese music and dance and we also have guest speakers from France and Indonesia. Participation is free (with a small charge for an Indonesian lunch) but places are limited. Please enroll soon!

We look forward to seeing you &/or your colleagues there. If you are able to spread the word, that would also be much appreciated!
Sincerely,
