**Film Screening : 5 Factories **

On the 28th of March, The Australia Venezuela Solidarity Network is showing a film called "5 factories" about workers control in Venezuela. This meeting beginning at 6.30 with informal chats over wine and cheese is being held at the Maritime Union of Australia Hall. John Cleary, former organiser with the Victorian branch of the Electrical Trades Union Coordinator of the AVSN, will introduce the film presenting his own experiences of the worker control in Venezuela.

Since the 1998 the Bolivarian Revolution has empowered workers and the poor to challenge poverty and US domination. In 2002 thousands of workers were locked out of the oil industry by the bosses to cripple the government's social programs funded by oil wealth. In response workers fought back to retake their jobs and kick out the corrupt management. They succeeded with the full support of Chavez, the socialist president of Venezuela, leading to occupied factories run by workers and community. This film looks at the experience of 5 such factories in Venezuela.
