This message which Carol Warren has asked me to pass on to this network
is a little old as I have been away until today, but here it is in the
hope that it will help -- note that the ship owner will load more
supplies when there is another sailing. Note also that aid agencies'
requests for cash only, not goods, don’t apply as a ship is available for
carrying goods.<br>

For those who may be able to make donations this group is organising
shipments directly to Aceh in the relief effort following the tsunami
disaster.<br><br>
From: "Tony Troughton-Smith" <tts@iinet.net.au><br><br>
In case you missed it, last I heard the ship is now en route, laden with
donated supplies - I understand this does not contravene the requests of
major aid agencies to give only cash, since in this case the problem of
transporting the goods to Aceh does not exist: the boat is available and
being used. <br>
<br>
The ship owner has now said that he'll do the same again, whenever his
commercial schedule allows, and the Maida Vale depot [SEE BELOW FOR
DETAILS]] will continue to accept donations of canned / packaged dried
food, clothing (small sizes only), equipment and - especially - bottled
water. Keep it coming, folks!<br>

Exporter seeks supplies for tsunami relief plan<br>
</b>Wednesday, 29 December 2004<br>
A livestock exporter from Albany in southern Western Australia wants to
transport emergency supplies to tsunami-affected regions on the deck of a
cattle ship which sets sail for Indonesia on New Year's Eve.<br>
<br>
Geoff Davey says the ship will leave Geraldton for the port of Belawan in
northern Sumatra.<br>
He is pleading for help to stock it with up to 100 tonnes of
supplies.<br>
"Foods, mainly biscuits, canned food and milk powder, clothes ...
blankets, tents and folding beds, medications, antibiotics and water
refineries and generators," he said.<br>
"Anything that comes into that category would be most
helpful."<br>
<br>
Donations of supplies were accepted at The Advent Centre, 345 Kalamunda
Road, Maida Vale (go through the gates, follow the driveway about 150m,
almost to the end, then turn left under the boom gate and go to the end
again, then turn right and the collection shed is in front of you).<br>
<br>
If you haven't used that old tent for years, or the camping stove, or
you've still got the kids' sleeping bags, or have clothes, tinned food, a
blanket or tarps you can spare, why not ask your friends and neighbours
what they've got and arrange someone to drop it in to Maida Vale? .<br>
<br>
<b>And if you can't get it together in time for this sailing, why not
collect the stuff together anyway, ready for the next opportunity to get
it to our stricken neighbours?<br>
