Information Analyst 
Level 6 , Continuing , Full Time , Nathan

Applications are invited for the position of Information Analyst in the 
Planning and Statistics Office, Academic Administration. The appointee 
will support the Manager, Planning and Statistics in the development, 
maintenance and delivery of a range of performance indicators to measure 
the University's efficiency and effectiveness in meeting institutional and 
national education goals. The successful applicant will have experience in 
the use of SQL database language and competence in clear written 
explanation and interpretation of data. 

 
Key Accountabilities / Duties
1. Assist in the development and maintenance of databases and information 
delivery systems for servicing the information needs of the planning, 
management and reporting functions of the University.
2. Develop and maintain systems to collect and validate data required for 
reporting to external agencies.
3. Prepare University statistical returns and submissions to DEST, ABS and 
similar agencies as required.
4. Support reporting relating to equity, graduate destinations (GDS), the 
Course Experience Questionnaire (CEQ), and retention performance.
5. Provide data management support for University survey projects 
including the Graduate Destination Survey.
6. Assist in the development and maintenance of the University's Student 
Projections Model and other models to predict the University's future 
financial, staffing and space requirements.
7. Compile and produce statistical and other reports directly from 
University statistical databases and planning models, or any other 
available sources.
8. Maintain sound understanding of the operation of the University's 
administrative computing systems including the PeopleSoft student, human 
resource and finance systems.
9. Extend and maintain the documentation of the information delivery 
systems, databases and models supported by the Planning and Statistics 
Office.

Conditions e.g. Salary, Superannuation 
Annual Salary: $43,241 - $46,228 (Salary package including 17% employer 
superannuation contribution: $50,592 - $54,087). 

Selection Criteria

Essential
1. A relevant degree with subsequent relevant experience or an equivalent 
combination of substantial relevant experience and/or education/training.
2. Experience in the use of the SQL database language and spreadsheet 
software.
3. Programming experience.
4. Competence in clear written explanation and interpretation and data.
5. Demonstrated administrative competence and relevant experience in the 
co-ordination of complex tasks.
6. Ability to meet deadlines under pressure.

Desirable
7. Experience in the use of the ORACLE DBMS and the UNIX operating system.
8. Experience in the development and use of WEB based information delivery 
systems.
