Graham Giffard, MLC for North Metropolitan Region, and Parliamentary
Secretary to the Minister for Education, Sport & Recreation and Indigenous
Affairs in W.A. is coming along for the first half an hour or so of our
NTEU Branch Committee of Management meeting tomorrow (Wednesday) lunchtime
at 12.30.
There will be space in the room for perhaps an additional 3 or 4 people if
any NTEU members not on the Committee of Management wishes to come and be
involved in the discussion.
An indication of some of the sorts of topics we have flagged that we wish
to discuss are:
* The state government's HE policy and strategy in the light of the
new Federal Minister's policy orientation
* More specifically the WA state government's approach to the overall
number of government funded places for university study in WA and
its preference on the allocation of any additional places.
* An update upon the proposals for a return to compulsory
student unionism in the West.
* Given the recent land grant to ECU is any similar
financial support being envisaged for Murdoch?
* Future mechanisms for consultation with the NTEU at Murdoch University.
(If you would like to come to the discussion please let me know in advance.
( the first four to respond get the invites).
Thanks
Mick Campion
President, Murdoch Branch NTEU
