Dear Members

 

On April 12 there is a National Day of Action called by the National
Union of Students. There will be both on and of campus components.

Details of the NDA are:

 

11am - free barbecue on Bush Court

12pm - Pre-rally on Bush Court (basically just a few Guild staff and
student speakers with a portable mike)

2pm - Central Rally - Theatre Gardens Subiaco with a march to Julie
Bishop's office

(The bus will depart Murdoch at either 1pm and depart Rockingham at
either 12.15)

 

The campaign is focused on 5 demands: 

*	student assistance allowances be increased above the poverty
line 
*	age of independence for Youth Allowance be lowered to 18 
*	AUSTUDY recipients be eligible for Rent Assistance 
*	Text books be exempt from GST 
*	adequate funding for student organisations
