Friends and supporters of The 107,
A more detailed update will follow later in the week.
* ACTU President Sharan Burrow has confirmed that she will join
community members and WA unionists in Perth on August 29th as we march
and rally to support the 107 as they face their first day in federal
court. TLCs and unions in other states have organised rallies in
support as follows. Please circulate to your interstate counterparts.
* Sydney: 10.00am Solidarity Rally, Trades Hall, 377
Sussex Street.

* Adelaide: 12 noon Rally in Victoria Square
* Melbourne: 12 noon-12.30 Lunchtime Rally for WA107 at
Federal Court, Cnr of Latrobe and William Streets
* Labourstart ACT Now campaign coming: The campaign to support
the 107 is stepping up a notch and going international. An
international email campaign will begin later this week, targeting Kevin
Andrews and John Llloyd, the ABCC taskforce commissioner and former head
of WA Labour Relations under Kierath.
* The Federal Court has postponed the appearance of 44 AMWU
members employed by TCC, who are being sued by their employer for
similar fines. They were due to appear on the 29th, have been
rescheduled for the 28th of September and we look forward to
reciprocating support for the 44 and their union on the day.
* At a recent meeting with The 107, they asked that we again
extend their thanks to supporters in WA and elsewhere. In their words,
they and their families are 'humbled and overwhelmed' by the efforts
made on their behalf and they look forward to thanking everyone publicly
on the 29th. To the unions, their members and the individuals that have
sent in messages of support via the website, my mail or fax, we regret
that we have been unable to respond with thanks for each message.
* August 13th followup: We will post some pictures on the website
later this week, and belated thanks for Bernard Carney for his words and
music and to anyone else that we missed.
