Below are the details for an on campus meeting with Nelson Davila that Paul Halfpenny and I have organised for tomorrow afternoon. There is also a reminder for the public which will be happening on Wednesday night.

Meeting with Venezuelan Charge D'Affaires to Australia

 

 

Nelson Davila, Venezuela’s most senior diplomat to Australia, will be speaking at Murdoch University tomorrow afternoon. Davila will be discussing the progress and difficulties facing attempts to construct a more participatory and equitable society in  Venezuela since the 1998 election victory of Hugo Chavez. A key focus of the meeting will be the Bolivarian Universities established in 2003, with the aim of providing free tertiary education to the 80% of Venezuelan society that live in poverty. 

 

When: 1.30pm, Tuesday November 21

Where: Nash Room, Club Murdoch

 

 

 

 

Venezuela: Challenging U.S. Domination In The 21st Century

Presenting Special Guest Speaker: Nelson Davila, the Venezuelan Charge D'Affaires to Australia 

 

Davila will discuss the challenges and goals of the Bolivarian Revolution that is improving the quality of life for the millions of poor in Venezuela. A grass roots movement that is empowering people, enabling them to take control of their society to build an alternative to the U.S domination of Latin America - a society based on human needs not corporate profits!

 

When: 7pm, Wednesday November 22. Barbeque from 6.30pm.

Where: Maritime Union of Australia Rooms, 2-4 Kwong Alley, North Fremantle (opp Swan Hotel, cnr Stirling Hwy)
