[Muanet] US scientists speak out for science

More than 6000 American scientists, so far, have signed a statement 
in defence of science against a major and sustained attack on its 
values.  Most of the restrictions on science identified in the 
American scientists' statement (which can be read at 
http://www.defendscience.org/statement.html ) would apply also in 
Australia - indeed one field of scientific research which is denied 
government funding on ideological grounds in the USA is banned 
outright in Australia.
