Dear members

Tomorrow there will be a screening of the documentary Supersize My Pay,
which looks at the strikes earlier this year by fast food workers in New
Zealand. Organised by the recently formed Unite casual workers union, in
April the strikes won new contracts for casual workers at fast food
chains employing 7000 workers across Auckland. Under the new contract
workers receive pay increases of between 8 and 12 percent this year. The
contract also phases out youth wages resulting in employees under the
age of 18 receiving pay increases of upto 32% in the next 12 months.

This documentary follows the organising campaign and features footages
teenage workers organising and winning the world's first strikes against
fastfood chains such as KFC, McDonalds and Starbucks.

Details of the screening are below.

When: 12.30 pm, Wednesday October 25
Where: Education and Humanities Building Room 3.52 For more details
