This position is located in the Statistics Unit of the Planning Support
Office. The Statistics Unit has as its primary responsibility the provision
of student and staff statistics required by Commonwealth and State
authorities as well as for the senior management staff of the University.
The primary function of the position is to provide statistical and
management information in response to internal and external enquiries. The
successful applicant would also be required to participate in other aspects
of the work of the Statistics Unit.
Applicants should have experience in the collection, analysis,
interpretation, and presentation of statistical data. Strong analytical and
conceptual skills (especially in numeric areas) and a capacity to use
computer applications relating to data management are required. The
appointee will be required to use SPSS for data management and the
production of tables and reports. Applicants without appropriate experience
with SPSS would be considered for appointment if they had a strong
computing background with extensive experience using a similar application
(such as SAS) for similar purposes.
The appointee must be able to work as a member of a team and to liaise with
clients. Good organisational skills including the ability to prioritise
tasks and meet deadlines will be necessary. The appointee will be required
to keep detailed records of requests received and the action taken to meet
the requests. Good oral and written communication skills are required as
are word processing and spreadsheet skills. Appropriate tertiary
qualifications are desirable.
The position is full-time continuing, subject to the completion of a
satisfactory probation period for new appointees. Membership of a
University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment for
new appointees. Successful applicants will be asked to provide proof of
Australian citizenship or a valid work visa appropriate to the term of the
position.

Remuneration Package: $51,269 - $57,447 p.a. (which includes a base salary
Level 5 $43,323 - $48,544 p.a., leave loading and up to 17% employer's
